How Should a Young Man Live?

A young man should work hard.

He should not have too much free time. After all, as the saying goes, “Idle hands are the devil’s workshop.”

He should not constantly try to promote himself or push himself forward. Instead, he should do his work honestly and to the best of his ability.

He should always be aware of the needs of the people around him and take the initiative to help them.

He should practise self-control in every area of his life and not allow himself to be controlled by the temptations and attractions of this world.

He should learn to control his emotions and remain clear-headed when something happens that makes him angry.

He should seek the company of men who are older and wiser than he is and try to follow their example in his own life.

He should be dependable—a man who keeps his word.

He should not be loud or talk too much. He should learn to listen more than he speaks.

He should not allow his hobbies and personal interests to become more important than his responsibilities as a brother.

All of this becoming possible—even truly enjoyable—once he becomes a close friend of God and seeks the Kingdom of God above all other things.
