Real Love

As long as love remains a passing emotion, a strong feeling, it floats about like a dream. Hard to catch, hard to keep, and all the harder to reconstruct as needed.

To smile, to look deeply into someone’s eyes while saying “I love you!” may bring a rush of emotion, unexpected joy, a blush, or even a desire to change life’s direction. But for love to endure, survive, grow, expand or multiply, it needs infinitely more than feeling.

Real love begins with action.

Any problem, no matter how huge or long lasting, nears it solution the moment real love strikes it. With real love, hard hearts melt. Darkness flees, barriers crumble, and hope bursts from the greatest disaster of all—the betrayal of trust.

Overcoming love brought the Saviour from heaven to earth. It also brings loved-filled hearts back to Him.

Do not settle for anything less than real love.

Caring for your friends’ wellbeing may already help. Praying for them even more, but to love them enough to stop all else to lend a helping hand changes lives—and the world.

Real love demands involvement. Merely saying, “Wow, that’s tough!” Or, “That sounds messy!” helps nothing. No guilty bystander—the one who watches a crime yet fails to speak up—has ever fixed a problem.

“You can only do so much,” well-meaning people say. Yet—one needs to do what one can!

Why not me?

By far the most of what Satan accomplishes comes from complacency. Merely smiling at things, wishing they were different, while failing to act as needed.

Real love proves itself when all else fails. Persistently, kindly, clearly exposing what is wrong, in order to make things right.

Real love never ends. It sticks to its goal. What it says it does. All those who share it will carry it with them, one with another, from this life into the next.

Have you discovered real love?

If so, share it today!
